Creates the Companion Animal Custody Equity Act, allowing courts to consider the well-being of dogs and cats in possession disputes regardless of the parties' marital status.

Applies to disputes between spouses, domestic partners, former partners, cohabitants, fiancés, or roommates who shared responsibility for the animal's care.

Courts may evaluate caregiving history, feeding and veterinary involvement, financial contributions, emotional bonds, living environment stability, and safety considerations when making determinations.

Provides special protections for senior animals 10 years of age or older, with additional weight given to continuity of environment, stress minimization, and maintenance of established routines.

Authorizes courts to issue temporary possession orders with limited visitation during disputes and to order mediation between parties.
