IL HB4541

Amends the Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act (765 ILCS 1026/15-102) to expand the definition of "property" to include overpayments made to any government entity, governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality.

Covers excess payments for taxes, licenses, or fees where the amount paid exceeded what was ultimately required of the payor.

Declares that these changes constitute a restatement and clarification of existing law rather than new policy.

Takes effect immediately upon passage.
