IL HB4542

Amends the Developmental Disability and Mental Disability Services Act to expand the definition of living in one's "own home" for adults with mental disabilities.

Increases from 3 to 5 the number of unrelated adults who may live with an adult with a mental disability in an unlicensed setting while still qualifying as the person's "own home."

Adds a new category allowing adults with mental disabilities to reside in facilities licensed by local government authorities with 4 or 5 unrelated adults who do not provide home-based services.

Applies to adults over 18 with severe autism, severe mental illness, severe or profound intellectual disability, or severe and multiple impairments who need home-based services but not 24-hour supervision.
