IL HB4566

Establishes the Natural Resource Restoration Trust Grant Program within the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to fund restoration or replacement of injured natural resources resulting from pollution events.

Eligible grant applicants include units of local government, soil and water conservation districts, regional planning agencies, nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, port authorities, and federally recognized tribes.

Grants must comply with the program's stated purposes, applicable court orders, and criteria established through administrative rulemaking.

Entities responsible for the pollution event that caused the natural resource damage are prohibited from receiving grants related to that event.

Takes effect January 1, 2027.
