IL HB4667

Amends the Counties Code to restrict how often recording fees can be increased for documents filed by units of local government, State agencies, or public utilities in first and second class counties.

Changes the fee increase frequency from "at any time" to "annually" for these governmental and public utility document recordings.

Applies to the minimum recording fee structure that currently includes a $12 county fee, $3 GIS fee, and $3 automation/document storage fee for qualifying entities.

Fee increases above the minimum still require adoption by county board resolution or ordinance and must be justified by an acceptable cost study demonstrating current fees are insufficient to cover service costs.
