Beginning July 1, 2026, State's Attorneys whose terms start after that date will be compensated at 100% of the mean salary paid to resident circuit judges in their county courthouse.

The State will fund 66 2/3% of total annual compensation based on salaries in effect on December 31, 1988, plus 100% of all salary increases after that date.

Funding for State's Attorney salaries will come from the Personal Property Tax Replacement Fund.

Counties remain responsible for State and federal income tax reporting, withholding, and employer contributions under the Illinois Pension Code.

The bill excludes the Cook County State's Attorney from these provisions.
