School districts with secondary education programs must annually conduct in-service training on iron deficiency and iron anemia caused by athletic participation for all high school interscholastic athletics coaches, beginning with the 2027-2028 school year.

Required training topics include menstrual dysfunction, low-energy availability, low bone-mineral density, signs and symptoms of iron deficiency conditions, and their impact on health and athletic performance.

Training must cover preventive measures and strategies to mitigate negative health impacts of iron deficiency-related conditions in student athletes.

Amends Section 10-22.39 of the Illinois School Code regarding in-service training programs.
