Beginning January 1, 2028, every county sheriff and municipality in Illinois must equip all patrol vehicles with a choking rescue device, defined as a manual suction device to remove airway obstructions during choking emergencies.

All sheriff's deputies and municipal police officers must receive training on administering choking rescue devices from approved entities including local fire departments, fire protection districts, public health authorities, or the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Amends both the Counties Code (55 ILCS 5) and Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5) to add new sections establishing these requirements.
