IL HB5211

Amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to make it a civil rights violation for employers to require a driver's license in job advertisements, postings, applications, or other materials unless driving is a bona fide job function and alternative transportation is not comparable in time or cost.

Employers may still require a driver's license if mandated by federal or state security regulations.

Alternative forms of transportation recognized under the bill include taxis, ride-hailing services, carpooling, bicycling, walking, and public transportation.

The bill is sponsored by Rep. Maurice A. West, II and was introduced during the 104th General Assembly (2025-2026 session).
