Social media platforms must provide a clearly labeled "Delete Account" button in their settings menu, accessible on all formats (app, browser, etc.), effective January 1, 2027

Upon clicking delete, platforms must guide users through account deletion including removal of personal information, with verification limited to simple methods like 2-factor authentication, email, text, or phone

Platforms must delete user data from their own records and notify service providers, contractors, and third parties who received the data to also delete it

Applies to social media platforms generating over $100 million in annual gross revenue that allow users to create profiles, connect with others, and post content

Prohibits use of "dark patterns" (manipulative interfaces) to obstruct deletion; waivers of these rights are void; violations are enforceable under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act by the Attorney General
