Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 to change mandatory jail detention to permissive ("may" instead of "shall") for unfit defendants awaiting bed availability at Department of Human Services facilities during the placement determination period.

Applies to defendants found unfit to stand trial due to mental disability who are ordered to inpatient treatment in Department of Human Services custody.

Adds reference to the County Jail Good Behavior Allowance Act alongside the Unified Code of Corrections for calculating good behavior credit toward maximum commitment periods.

Retains existing timelines requiring the Department to designate a facility within 20 days and admit defendants within 60 days of the court's placement order, with 30-day progress updates if delays occur.
