IL HB5484

Amends the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/2) to expand the definition of "private information" that is exempt from public disclosure.

Adds gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender expression to the list of protected private information held by public bodies.

Places these categories alongside existing protected identifiers such as social security numbers, driver's license numbers, biometric identifiers, medical records, and personal email addresses.

Applies to all Illinois public bodies including state agencies, universities, counties, cities, villages, school districts, and other municipal entities.
