Honors Cpl. Tommy Neal Miller (born July 19, 1949), a U.S. Marine Corps mortarman from Meadowbrook near Bethalto in Madison County who was killed in action during the Vietnam War on February 25, 1969 at age 19

Cpl. Miller was mortally wounded by enemy grenade fragments at Fire Support Base Russell in Quang Tri Province while attempting to rescue fellow Marines trapped in debris during a North Vietnamese Army assault

Requests the Illinois Department of Transportation erect appropriate plaques or signs along the designated highway

Cpl. Miller's commendations include the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, and multiple other service medals; his name is inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall (Panel 31w, Line 53)
