Congratulates Leyden Community High School District 212 on its 100th anniversary, serving Franklin Park, Melrose Park, Northlake, River Grove, Rosemont, Schiller Park, and Leyden Township

The district began in 1913 as a two-year high school with 20 students by 1918, was formally organized as District 212 in 1924, and grew to include East Leyden High School (1954-55) and West Leyden High School (opened 1959)

Both schools received U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School recognition from President Reagan in 1984-1985, and the district was named National Advanced Placement School of the Year by the College Board in 2014

Recent construction projects include a $35 million project at West Leyden (groundbreaking May 2017) and a $55 million project at East Leyden (groundbreaking March 2018) for classrooms, common spaces, and cafeteria renovations

The district currently serves approximately 3,600 students with 237 teachers (82% holding master's degrees or higher), offering 29 interscholastic sports and over 100 clubs and activities
