Recognizes that 86% of civilian structure fire deaths occur in homes, causing $8.7 billion in direct property damage annually

Notes that from 2007-2023, Illinois homes without sprinklers experienced 4,031 injuries and 1,072 fatalities, while homes with sprinklers had only 7 injuries and zero fatalities

Highlights that modern homes burn faster due to lightweight construction, open floor plans, synthetic furnishings, and lithium-ion batteries, becoming deadly in two minutes or less

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Erik Hoffer, Chicago IP Director for the National Fire Sprinkler Association
