Declares April 2025 as Prescribed Burning Awareness Month in Illinois

Recognizes prescribed fire as a traditional land management practice used by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years to manage woodlands and grasslands

Notes that only approximately 6% of conservation lands in Illinois are currently managed with prescribed fire, despite its importance for maintaining healthy landscapes

Supports the continued use of prescribed fire for reducing wildfire risk, controlling invasive species, managing wildlife habitat, and restoring fire-dependent ecosystems

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to the Illinois Prescribed Fire Council
