Honors the lives of individuals lost to gun violence in Illinois, specifically naming hundreds of victims who died in Chicago in 2024, when an estimated 1,400 deaths occurred statewide and 505 in the Chicago area alone

Recognizes that gun violence disproportionately impacts urban and economically disadvantaged communities where access to resources and support systems are limited

Reaffirms commitment to continue and expand funding for violence prevention programs, with priority given to communities most affected by gun violence and systemic inequities

Urges local, state, and federal governments to collaborate on creating safer communities through targeted investments in education, job creation, mental health support, and community policing

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Chicago Police Superintendent Larry B. Snelling, Mayor Brandon Johnson, Governor JB Pritzker, and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton
