ABLE accounts allow people with disabilities to save for expenses like education, transportation, assistive technology, and health care while protecting their federal benefits eligibility

Illinois leads a 19-member bipartisan consortium of states providing ABLE programs to more than a quarter of eligible people with disabilities nationwide

Average Illinois ABLE account balance is approximately $12,000, helping account holders achieve greater financial independence beyond federal benefit asset restrictions
