Affirms the importance of adopting a statewide strategy to develop teachers as leaders to recruit and retain diverse educators, strengthen school leadership, and improve educational outcomes

Urges the Illinois State Board of Education to prioritize teacher leadership investments to conduct research, share best practices for distributed leadership, and provide technical assistance to schools and districts

Calls on ISBE to collaborate with educators, districts, educator preparation programs, and other state agencies to build a statewide ecosystem that grows, recognizes, and sustains teacher leadership

Recommends ISBE include multiple pathways in its strategy, including collaborative partnerships, expanded teacher voice in decision-making, and classroom teacher leadership development programs

Urges each school district in Illinois to develop systems providing teachers equitable access to ongoing leadership development and encourage them to take teacher leadership roles
