Recognizes Hispanic and Latino communities comprise approximately 19% of Illinois's population and contribute over $100 billion annually to the state's economy

Acknowledges historic contributions of Hispanic Americans including labor rights advocates Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, astronaut Ellen Ochoa, and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor

Notes concerns affecting Hispanic communities including having the highest uninsured rate of any racial or ethnic group and issues related to immigration enforcement

Encourages all Illinois residents to participate in activities, ceremonies, and educational programs honoring Hispanic and Latino American achievements and contributions
