Memorial resolution honoring Bishop Joseph Hosea Johnson of Peoria, who passed away on October 22, 2025, at age 90

Served as the first African American Director of Juvenile Court Services in Illinois, holding the position for 37 years after starting as a community worker with the Department of Corrections

Became permanent pastor of Star of Hope Full Gospel Church in March 1968, also serving Peoria Christian Church and First United Methodist Church during his ministry career

Participated in the Cursillo Movement for 31 years, ministering at 39 prison sites in Illinois, and conducted international ministry in Liberia, Trinidad, and Tobago for over 40 years

Helped send 30 students to college and purchased 12 homes and 33 cars for others in need, while serving as foster father to many young men in the community
