Illinois House Resolution mourning the death of Nedda Jane Simon, who passed away on October 1, 2024, at age 91

Founded Freedom House, a 24-hour, 32-bed shelter serving victims of domestic and sexual violence across five Illinois counties, which has helped more than 30,000 women and their families over 40 years

Worked as an English teacher at Princeton and Manlius High Schools, and served as a certified alcohol and drug counselor at Quad County Counseling Services for more than 20 years

Received numerous honors including the Robert L. Sorensen Summit Award (1994), Prairie Arts Council Lifetime Achievements in the Arts Award (2011), and Illinois Valley Living's Woman of Distinction (2013)

Directs the Clerk to present a copy of the resolution to her surviving family, including three daughters, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren
