Mu Alpha Lambda Chapter (546) is the alumni chapter of Northern Illinois University, chartered February 7, 1975 by nine former members of the Epsilon Phi Chapter

The chapter has mentored more than 150 young men from the Rockford region and donated over $325,000 in scholarships to support young men of color attending college

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity members in the Illinois House include Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch, Representative Justin Slaughter, and Representative Maurice West
