Illinois House of Representatives commends the establishment of the Serenity Garden, located beside Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center in Kankakee, as a restorative space supporting mental health, healing, and reflection.

The garden integrates native and pollinator-supportive plantings to protect habitats for bees and monarch butterflies, advancing biodiversity and ecosystem stability in Illinois.

Designated as the marquee legacy project of President and CEO Eddy Borrayo under the "W.H.Y. We Build-2030" (Will, Hope, and Yearning) institutional vision framework.

Developed through collaboration among Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center leadership and affiliate partners including Rincon Family Services, The Center: Resources for Teaching & Learning, and the Helen Wheeler Center.

Copies of the resolution will be presented to CEO Eddy Borrayo, Director Ximena Siguenza Cabrera, Chief Communications Officer Raul Tinoco, and the organization's Board of Directors and partners.
