Illinois House Resolution commends Dion's Chicago Dream (DCD), a nonprofit founded in 2020 by U.S. Navy veteran Dion Dawson to combat food insecurity through direct-to-door fresh produce delivery across Chicagoland

DCD has delivered over 5.1 million pounds of fresh produce since 2020, serving more than 180 ZIP codes (over 50% of Cook County) through its Dream Deliveries program and innovative Dream Vault pickup lockers

The Dream Vault earned the 2023 Chicago Innovation Award, and DCD received the 2024 President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition Community Leadership Award for its nutrition-focused community impact

Founder Dion Dawson has been recognized as a TED Fellow, Echoing Green Fellow, Aspen Food Leaders Fellow, and named to Crain's Chicago Business 2025 40 Under 40 class

The organization creates living-wage jobs for drivers, packers, and dispatch workers while advancing health equity and the Food-Is-Medicine movement in historically under-resourced neighborhoods
