Illinois House Resolution congratulating Jason Herbster on his retirement as executive director of the Crystal Lake Park District after more than 15 years of service, effective April 2026

Herbster has over three decades of experience in parks and recreation, previously serving the Glenview, Schaumburg, Palatine, and Alsip Park Districts before joining Crystal Lake in May 2010

Crystal Lake Park District serves approximately 50,700 residents across 42 parks spanning more than 1,400 acres with over 1,000 annual program offerings

During his tenure, Herbster reestablished the Parks Initiative Foundation, secured environmental grants for Main Beach and the Nature Center, and earned a Government Finance Officers Association award for financial reporting

Recognized as a Distinguished Agency Mentor and served as ambassador for the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and board member for the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association
