Tier 2 participants employed as Secretary of State investigators or conservation police officers who have at least 10 years of service credit and have reached age 60 would become eligible for the alternative retirement annuity under Section 14-110, even without the standard 20 years of eligible creditable service

The change applies only to those currently employed in these positions on the effective date of the act, creating a limited eligibility window for existing employees

Any benefit increases resulting from this amendment are explicitly excluded from the definition of "new benefit increase," exempting them from the 5-year expiration and additional funding requirements that normally apply to pension benefit expansions

The bill amends Sections 1-160 and 14-152.1 of the Illinois Pension Code and takes effect immediately upon becoming law
