Requires all group and individual health insurance policies and managed care plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after July 1, 2025 to cover the full cost of an annual PET scan for insureds age 35 or older

Coverage must be provided regardless of whether a physician ordered the scan and regardless of whether the insured displays any symptoms

PET scans have approximately 92.5% accuracy in diagnosing malignancies and are considered the most effective medical imaging for detecting tumors and cancer

Currently, PET scans are only covered as screening tests for individuals with Medicare (age 65+) or when ordered by a physician, leaving many cancers undetected in younger patients

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
