Expands the definition of residential burglary in the Criminal Code of 2012 to include knowingly entering another person's property without authority with intent to steal a motor vehicle

Current law defines residential burglary as unauthorized entry into a dwelling place with intent to commit a felony or theft; the new provision extends this to cover property generally, not just dwelling places, when motor vehicle theft is intended

Residential burglary remains classified as a Class 1 felony under the amended statute

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
