Creates a new "Short-Term Approval" credential allowing individuals to serve as educators in a specific education area or grade range for a temporary period

The State Board of Education, in consultation with the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board, will develop rules establishing conditions for obtaining the credential

Short-Term Approvals have a set expiration date and cannot be renewed; educators must obtain a full license or endorsement in the same area before expiration to continue teaching

Educators who fail to obtain the required license or endorsement before their Short-Term Approval expires cannot continue serving in that education area or grade range

A one-time extension of up to one year may be granted if a serious health condition (as defined by the federal Family and Medical Leave Act) prevented timely completion of licensure requirements
