Lowers the minimum age for Cook County deputy sheriff appointment from 21 years to 19 years of age

Eliminates the alternative pathway that allowed 20-year-olds to be appointed if they had completed 2 years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university

Extends the probationary period for new deputy sheriff appointees from 12 months to 15 months, during which time they may be discharged at will by the Sheriff

Retains existing restrictions that prevent deputies under 21 from having power of arrest or carrying firearms
