IL SB1800

Allows the Secretary of State to issue an instruction permit to a 15-year-old who receives permission from a driver education teacher or school administrator, rather than requiring the child to be actively enrolled in an approved driver education course

Amends Section 6-103 of the Illinois Vehicle Code regarding who may receive driver permits and licenses

Maintains existing requirements that the child must need the instruction permit to participate in an approved driver education course

Does not change other permit eligibility rules, including the option for 17-year-3-month-olds to obtain permits without driver education enrollment, or for those at least 15 years 3 months old who meet educational requirements and pass prescribed examinations
