IL SB1995

Prohibits data collectors from owning, maintaining, licensing, storing, or disclosing records containing immigration or citizenship status information about Illinois residents

Exempts government agencies, public and private universities, and financial institutions from the prohibition on collecting immigration/citizenship data

Adds "immigration or citizenship status information" to the definition of "personal information" under the Personal Information Protection Act

Defines "immigration or citizenship status information" as any information about an individual's U.S. or foreign citizenship status, legal right to reside in the U.S., nationality, or country of origin

Amends 815 ILCS 530 (Sections 5 and 45) of the Personal Information Protection Act
