Day care homes, group day care homes, and day care centers may hire employees or volunteers on a probationary basis after they authorize a criminal background investigation and meet initial requirements set by the Department of Children and Family Services or Department of Early Childhood

Probationary employees and volunteers must be supervised at all times by an individual who has received qualifying results on all background check components while awaiting completion of their full background check

Removes previous language that allowed any child care facility (including non-licensed service providers) to hire probationary employees pending background check results without requiring constant supervision

Amends Section 4.1 of the Child Care Act of 1969 regarding criminal background investigations

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
