Eliminates the requirement for senior citizens to reapply annually for the senior citizens homestead exemption in all Illinois counties, effective for taxable years 2026 and thereafter

Currently, counties with 3,000,000+ inhabitants (Cook County) already allow seniors to avoid annual reapplication; this bill extends that policy statewide to all counties

Requires chief county assessment officers in all counties to enter into intergovernmental agreements with county clerks, the Department of Public Health, and the Social Security Administration to verify eligibility and track deaths of exemption recipients

Mandates that property owners notify the chief county assessment officer if their property no longer qualifies for the exemption, and requires assessment officers to conduct reviews of all exemptions at the start of each reassessment cycle

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
