IL SB2770

Expands the definition of "first responder" under the Counties Code and Illinois Municipal Code to include county medical examiners and coroners.

Entitles medical examiners and coroners to health insurance coverage without deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, or other cost-sharing requirements as first responders.

Specifically applies to mental health counseling coverage that counties must provide to first responder employees effective June 1, 2025.

Amends existing law that already covers police officers, corrections officers, deputy sheriffs, firefighters, EMS personnel, emergency dispatchers, public safety telecommunicators, and mental health crisis professionals.
