IL SB2854

Amends the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL) in the Illinois Property Tax Code (35 ILCS 200/18-185) to exclude Veterans Assistance Commission levies from property tax caps.

Special purpose levies made to fund Veterans Assistance Commissions under Section 5-2006 of the Counties Code would not count toward a taxing district's aggregate extension limit.

The exemption applies beginning with the 2027 levy year, allowing counties to raise additional property tax revenue for veterans services without being constrained by PTELL limits.
