IL SB2880

Requires group and individual accident and health insurance policies and managed care plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2028 to provide coverage for medically necessary assistive technology devices.

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code by adding new Section 356z.88 to establish the assistive technology coverage requirement.

Extends the coverage mandate to state employee health benefits under the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971.

Applies the requirement to self-insured counties and municipalities, including home rule units, through amendments to the Counties Code and Illinois Municipal Code.

Requires compliance by health maintenance organizations, limited health service organizations, voluntary health services plans, school district health plans, and Illinois Public Aid Code programs.
