IL SB3056

Requires the Office of the State Fire Marshal to investigate the cause, origin, and circumstances of any fire or explosion where fire is presumed to be a contributing factor in a death

Mandates that local fire department chiefs or designees notify the State Fire Marshal's Office upon discovery of any fire-related death

Requires local fire departments to maintain control of the scene until a State Fire Marshal representative arrives and initiates the investigation

Allows local fire departments to conduct investigations jointly with the State Fire Marshal's Office rather than being excluded from the process

Amends the Fire Investigation Act (425 ILCS 25/6) to add these new requirements as subsection (a-5)
