IL SB3296

Amends the Illinois Election Code to allow election authorities in counties under township organization to combine contiguous townships into a single election precinct when 2 or more specified conditions are met.

Eligible conditions for combining townships include: certification that townships were combined for the 2 preceding general elections, no more than 1,800 total registered voters in both townships combined, no more than 500 registered voters in any precinct within either township, or majority approval from both township boards of trustees.

Removes the existing requirement that each town must constitute at least one election precinct in counties under township organization.

Requires election authorities to consider voter convenience and election integrity when deciding whether to combine townships into one precinct.
