IL SB3516

Restores sentencing guidelines for individuals with prior felony firearm-related convictions that were repealed on January 1, 2004, and eliminates the sunset provision for these guidelines

Creates new Section 5-4.5-111 in the Unified Code of Corrections defining "qualifying predicate offenses" including first degree murder, attempted murder with a firearm, armed robbery, vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery with a firearm, home invasion with a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm

Applies enhanced sentencing to individuals convicted of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (Class 3 felony with 2-10 years, or Class 2 felony with 3-14 years for repeat offenses or those with prior forcible felonies)

Establishes that aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a person with prior felony convictions is a Class 2 felony with mandatory 3-7 year imprisonment

Applies only to offenses committed on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act
