IL SB3547

Upgrades aggravated battery against judges, State's Attorneys, and Assistant State's Attorneys from a Class 3 felony to a Class 2 felony under Illinois law.

Applies when the offender knows the victim's status and the battery occurs while the official is performing duties, to prevent performance of duties, or in retaliation for performing duties.

Creates a new separate category (subdivision 6.5) for these legal officials, removing judges from a broader category that includes emergency workers and utility workers.

Amends Section 12-3.05 of the Criminal Code of 2012 (720 ILCS 5/12-3.05).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
