IL SB3588

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to require the school bus driver training course for first division vehicles (smaller buses) to be available virtually by January 1, 2027.

Requires the Secretary of State to make the written test for first division school bus driver permits available for online completion by January 1, 2027.

Regional superintendents of schools, working with the Illinois State Board of Education, are responsible for offering the virtual course option.

The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
