IL SB3683

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 (720 ILCS 5/24-1) to create an exemption from Illinois unlawful possession of weapons laws for qualified retired law enforcement officers.

Qualified retired officers must meet the definition established in the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 and be recognized under Illinois law.

The exemption allows these retired officers to carry or possess certain weapons in specified locations where such possession would otherwise be prohibited.
