Schools with libraries must make their complete catalog of library materials available in a searchable online database accessible to parents and guardians.

Parents or guardians may prohibit their own student from accessing any specific library materials they designate.

Written designations from parents specifying restricted materials must be kept on file in the school library, and schools must enforce these individual restrictions.

Applies to both regular school districts (Section 10-20.88) and Chicago Public Schools (Section 34-18.88) through amendments to the Illinois School Code.

State Mandates Act may require reimbursement to school districts for implementation costs.
