IL SB3984

Prohibits political committees from making payments for taxable compensation (requiring W-2 or 1099 forms) to immediate family members of public officials or candidates

Defines "immediate family member" as anyone living with the official/candidate, or their spouse, child, sibling, or parent regardless of residence

Removes existing language that previously allowed payments to family members if they were "compensation for services actually rendered"

Preserves exceptions allowing campaign funds to pay for childcare for minor children or care for dependent family members when reasonably necessary for political/governmental duties

Amends Section 9-8.10 of the Illinois Election Code and takes effect immediately upon becoming law
