IL SB4009

Expands DNA sample eligibility to allow biological samples from any biological relatives of a missing person, rather than only closely related relatives, when samples from the missing person are unavailable.

Requires biological samples from relatives to be provided voluntarily with all consent and information forms completed and submitted alongside the samples.

Mandates DNA samples be submitted to a CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) participating laboratory within 90 days from the date of the police report, replacing the previous broader laboratory designation.

Requires DNA profiles from unidentified human remains collected by coroners, medical examiners, or law enforcement to be entered into CODIS within 90 days of discovery.
