IL SB4024

Creates a new "transfer care specialist" license category under the Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing Code for individuals who remove deceased human bodies from the place of death, institution, or other location under supervision of a licensed funeral director or funeral director and embalmer.

Requires transfer care specialists to work under the general supervision of a licensed funeral director, who must authorize the activity, be responsible for the outcome, and be available for consultation but need not be physically present.

Establishes that practicing as a transfer care specialist without a valid license constitutes a public nuisance and is classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

Grants the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation authority to set license requirements, qualifications, applications, renewals, reinstatements, and restorations for transfer care specialist licenses.

Mandates that funeral establishments employing transfer care specialists must operate from a fixed place of business and contain facilities for funeral and wake services.
