Recognizes that 86% of civilian structure fire deaths occur in homes, causing $8.7 billion in direct property damage annually

Notes that from 2007-2023, Illinois homes without fire sprinklers experienced 4,031 injuries and 1,072 fatalities, compared to only 7 injuries and zero fatalities in homes with sprinkler systems

Highlights that modern homes burn faster (becoming deadly in two minutes or less) due to lightweight construction materials, open floor plans, synthetic furnishings, and lithium-ion batteries

Directs a copy of the resolution be presented to the Chicago Director of the National Fire Sprinkler Association
