Memorial resolution honoring James Wilson Thomas of Peoria, who passed away on May 1, 2025, at age 84

Taught history and political science at Illinois Central College for 35 years (retiring in 2006), founded the Illinois College Model Government Program, and organized the Young Democrats at ICC

Served 20 years on the Peoria County Board, established the Art in Peoria courthouse project, and served as president of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

Twice attended the Democratic National Convention as a delegate for President Jimmy Carter and served as a precinct committeeman

Active in community organizations including Wildlife Prairie Park, the Peoria Philharmonic Chorale, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and environmental groups such as the Sierra Club and Audubon Society
